Rural Rises

Date Published 11 June 2025

* Rural property prices have grown by 23% over the past five years, outpacing the 18% increase seen in urban areas.

* Rural terraced houses have seen the strongest price growth, while urban flats have seen more modest gains.

* While the pandemic sparked a surge in demand for rural properties, demand remains strong, driven by lifestyle shifts such as remote working, the need for more space, and tighter household budgets.

* The majority of moves over the past five years (63%) were within the same type of area, though older movers- particularly those aged 55 and above- showed a marked preference for rural areas.
