Race For Rentals Hots Up In Summer Months

Date Published 08 August 2025

* Summer is usually one of the busiest seasons in the rental market. It's a time when graduates start new jobs, students move for university, and many people shift homes to live with friends.

* 38% of properties placed on the rental market are being snapped up by renters within a week of being listed, with 8% being let within just three days, according to the latest PriceHubble poll of subscribers.

* With peak rental season underway, there is significant competition and homes are letting fast. In July, the average void period dropped to 12 days, down from 20 days in June.

* However, beyond the usual seasonal patterns, RICS data suggests that supply and demand are settling into more typical levels, with a noticeable softening in demand compared to recent years.
